ACCRINTM in Collabora Office: Calculate Interest for a Single-Payment Security

Financial Intermediate Collabora Office Calc

Calculate Collabora ACCRINTM with explicit par and day-count basis, reproduce the 75-day example, and distinguish accrued interest from redemption cash.

Verification status: See the evidence and test scope described in this guide. How formula examples are checked

Quick answer: =ACCRINTM(DATE(2001;4;1);DATE(2001;6;15);10%;1000;3) has documented result approximately 20.54795. It calculates accrued interest for the single-payment case, using the issue date and the date up to which interest is calculated.

Syntax and defaults

=ACCRINTM(Issue; Settlement; Rate [; Par [; Basis]])

Issue is the security’s issue date. Settlement is the calculation date up to which interest accrues. Rate is the annual nominal coupon rate. These three arguments are required.

Par is optional and defaults to 1000. Collabora expressly recommends supplying it rather than relying on that default, because an explicit value makes the model easier to understand and maintain. Basis is optional and defaults to zero.

Basis Documented convention
0 or omitted US NASD, twelve 30-day months
1 Actual days in months and actual days in the year
2 Actual days in months, 360-day year
3 Actual days in months, 365-day year
4 European method, twelve 30-day months

Use genuine date values or DATE formulas. The examples below use explicit bases and ordinary dates so the date and year conventions remain visible. A day-count basis is part of the calculation model, not a display preference.

There is no Frequency argument. Do not append the periodic-payment ACCRINT argument sequence to ACCRINTM. Rate is annual: enter 10% or 0.1 for ten percent, not the number 10.

Example: independently reproduce the source control

Enter these values:

Cell Input
A2 =DATE(2001;4;1)
B2 =DATE(2001;6;15)
C2 10%
D2 1000
E2 3

In F2 enter =ACCRINTM(A2;B2;C2;D2;E2). The vendor’s rounded result is 20.54795.

There are 75 actual days from April 1 to June 15, 2001. The independent actual/365 model is =D2*C2*(B2-A2)/365, yielding approximately 20.54794520547945. This verifies the ordinary arithmetic behind the documented control without claiming native execution.

Example: make par and rate sensitivity visible

For the same dates and basis, changing Par from 1000 to 2000 doubles the independently modeled interest to approximately 41.095890411. Changing the annual rate from 10% to 5%, while keeping Par 1000, halves it to approximately 10.273972603.

These controls help detect an incorrect percentage scale or an accidental reliance on the default par. If a workbook result is exactly ten or one hundred times too large, inspect rate and par inputs before blaming date arithmetic.

Advanced example: compare two actual-day denominators

For issue 2026-01-15, calculation date 2026-07-15, rate 6%, and par 5000, there are 181 actual elapsed days.

The independent basis-three amount is 5000×0.06×181/365, approximately 148.767123288. With basis two’s 360-day year, the corresponding independent amount is approximately 150.833333333.

The dates and nominal rate are identical; the denominator changes the result. Keep the basis beside the amount in a report so an unexplained difference is not mistaken for rounding. For these regular mid-month dates, a 30/360 model uses 180 days and yields 150.

Advanced application: separate interest from repayment

The source example’s approximately 20.547945205 is interest only. If a hypothetical arrangement also repays principal 1000 at the same time, principal plus that interest is approximately 1020.547945205. That additional repayment assumption is outside ACCRINTM’s returned value.

Use SUM or direct addition to show separate components, and ROUND only when the reporting rules require a particular decimal precision. Rounding every intermediate year fraction can unnecessarily distort the final amount.

Errors and limitations

Use valid dates with the calculation date after issue, explicit positive par and an appropriate annual rate. The dedicated help does not provide a full native error table, multi-year actual/actual details, or every month-end/February adjustment. The examples do not certify those boundaries or invalid-input coercions.

The function models the documented single-payment accrual purpose. It does not price a security, choose a contractual day-count basis, calculate tax, or reconstruct a periodic coupon schedule from missing inputs.

Availability and verification

The exact function is documented in Collabora Office 26.04 desktop help, retrieved and reviewed on October 17, 2026. This establishes a documentation scope, not the first release that introduced the function or the last version in which it works; those versions and any retirement date remain unestablished. Collabora Online and mobile support are not inferred from desktop help, nor is behavior in another spreadsheet product.

The examples are documentation-based expectations with independent calculations. They have not been executed in Collabora Office. No application screenshot or native error/coercion certification is implied. Formulas use English function names and semicolon argument separators.
