YIELDMAT in Collabora Office: Find the Yield of Interest Paid at Maturity
Use Collabora YIELDMAT with issue and settlement dates, reproduce the 6.0954% control, and distinguish price, accrued interest, and maturity proceeds.
Verification status: See the evidence and test scope described in this guide. How formula examples are checked
Quick answer: =YIELDMAT(DATE(1999;3;15);DATE(1999;11;3);DATE(1998;11;8);6.25%;100.0123;0) has documented result approximately 6.0954%. It applies to a security whose interest is paid at maturity.
Syntax and input roles
=YIELDMAT(Settlement; Maturity; Issue; Rate; Price [; Basis])
Settlement is the purchase date, Maturity the expiry date, Issue the original issue date, Rate the security’s interest rate at issue, and Price the purchase quote per 100 par. All five are required. Basis optionally selects the convention and defaults to zero.
| Basis | Documented convention |
|---|---|
| 0 or omitted | US NASD, twelve 30-day months |
| 1 | Actual days in months and actual days in year |
| 2 | Actual days in months, 360-day year |
| 3 | Actual days in months, 365-day year |
| 4 | European method, twelve 30-day months |
Use DATE or genuine date cells for the inputs. A date-looking subtraction expression is not a date. The examples supply Basis explicitly and do not certify every month-end or multi-year actual/actual boundary.
The formula’s date order is not chronological. Keep labeled cells for the three dates and do not substitute the issue date for settlement. Price is 100.0123 in the example, not 100.0123%.
Example: reproduce the source yield
Enter dates 1999-03-15, 1999-11-03, 1998-11-08, Rate 6.25%, Price 100.0123, and Basis 0 in B2:B7. Use =YIELDMAT(B2;B3;B4;B5;B6;B7) in B9.
The documented result is 0.060954, or 6.0954%. The independent ordinary 30/360 counts are:
| Interval | Convention days |
|---|---|
| Issue to settlement | 127 |
| Issue to maturity | 355 |
| Settlement to maturity | 228 |
The counts satisfy 127+228=355. They are convention-based counts, not a claim that calendar subtraction gives those same values.
Independently reconstruct the rate
The maturity receipt per 100 par is 100+100×6.25%×355/360, approximately 106.163194444. The accrued interest at settlement is 100×6.25%×127/360, approximately 2.204861111.
Add that accrued amount to the quoted price 100.0123, then compare the maturity receipt with the resulting settlement amount. The independent annual simple rate is:
=((100+100*6.25%*355/360)/(100.0123+100*6.25%*127/360)-1)*360/228
It gives approximately 0.060954333692, or 6.0954333692%, consistent with the vendor’s rounded control. This is an independent explanation, not a native implementation trace.
Advanced interpretation: coupon rate and yield differ
The issue rate is 6.25%, while the calculated yield is about 6.0954%. They serve different roles: the issue rate determines accrued interest, and the yield summarizes the price and remaining cash-flow interval.
A purchase quote slightly above 100 does not by itself tell the whole story, because the accrued component and issue-to-maturity interest also matter. Do not compare Price directly with the final receipt without keeping the accrual convention visible.
Advanced application: reverse-check the quote
Using the independent yield y, reconstruct the quoted price as:
=(100+100*6.25%*355/360)/(1+y*228/360)-100*6.25%*127/360
The independent target is 100.0123. Reference the unrounded yield cell when checking; using the displayed 6.0954% may leave a small residual.
ROUND can simplify the final rate display, but keep full precision for this inverse calculation. ABS can measure a reconciliation difference without discarding the original signed difference.
Errors and limitations
Check date roles, positive quote scale, valid basis, and rates entered as percentages. The source does not enumerate a complete native error table, coercion rules, or every month-end and actual/actual boundary. The example avoids those edge cases.
There is no frequency argument for periodic coupons and no arbitrary redemption input. A different cash-flow structure needs a different model rather than extra arguments appended to YIELDMAT.
The result excludes fees, taxes, and any unlisted intermediate flows. It is an annual rate for supplied hypothetical/documented inputs, not evidence of a live offer or a recommendation about a security.
Availability and verification
The exact function is documented in Collabora Office 26.04 desktop help, retrieved and reviewed on October 17, 2026. This establishes a documentation scope, not the first release that introduced the function or the last version in which it works; those versions and any retirement date remain unestablished. Collabora Online and mobile support are not inferred from desktop help, nor is behavior in another spreadsheet product.
The examples are documentation-based expectations with independent calculations. They have not been executed in Collabora Office. No application screenshot or native error/coercion certification is implied. Formulas use English function names and semicolon argument separators.
