Deployment and evidence boundary
Collabora Online Calc in a desktop browser, English interface, editable ODS practice file. Online controls were checked in the vendor’s historical 25.04 branch source at commit 3847fbcfe35a234544cf163ed9e004a3d197337c on 19 October 2026; this historical source snapshot is not a current development head or certification of any hosted build. Record the actual COOLWSD and LOKit versions from Help → About, browser, interface, and storage host before testing. Desktop Collabora Office and mobile apps are outside scope.
The exercise has independently checked synthetic expectations, not a live application result. No current native GUI or authorized hosted test file was available, so native screenshots and save/reopen evidence remain pending. An unavailable, renamed, disabled, or policy-blocked control is a stop condition; do not substitute a desktop-only route. Keep the original safe and work in a disposable file created through your existing authorized host. Host permissions, autosave timing, revision history, and clipboard policy are not established by the Online source.
Create an index that points to an exact workbook cell and a public source document. A hyperlink navigates; it neither imports the destination’s values nor grants permission to read it.
Create a small index and target
Start a disposable workbook with two sheets named Index and Data, using the sheet-tab Rename/Insert controls. Enter exactly:
| Sheet and cell | Entry |
|---|---|
| Index A1 | Destination |
| Index B1 | Link |
| Index A2 | Data total |
| Index B2 | =HYPERLINK("#Data.B2";"Open total") |
| Index A3 | Public source |
| Index B3 | =HYPERLINK("https://www.collaboraonline.com/calc/";"Collabora Calc overview") |
| Data A1 | Item |
| Data B1 | Units |
| Data A2 | Total |
| Data B2 | 18 |
All other cells are blank. Use straight quotation marks and the appropriate argument separator; do not rewrite the URL when adapting a separator. The fragment #Data.B2 has no spaces or secrets. The external target is the exact public HTTPS URL shown above; it requires no account creation or new sharing permission.
The function syntax and internal fragment example come from Collabora’s function Help. Online has a hyperlink command in its source and has documented Ctrl-click support for HYPERLINK since its 3.3.1 release. That establishes an Online feature, not identical link-opening behavior across hosts and browsers.
Verify destinations before following links
- Select Index B2 without activating the link and inspect its formula bar: the target must be
#Data.B2, and display textOpen total. Activate the link using the application’s link popup/Open Link action when shown, or its supported Ctrl-click behavior. A successful internal check activatesDataat B2, displaying18. If the host opens a new tab or cannot resolve the fragment, stop and record the behavior; do not convert it to an unrelated web address. - Return to Index and inspect B3’s formula and link popup. The exact URL must be
https://www.collaboraonline.com/calc/. This guide does not execute the outbound link. The owner may follow it only if permitted by their organization, inspect the final address and page title, and cancel any unexpected sign-in, download, or permission prompt. A warning or redirect requires review; do not bypass a browser security warning. - For a real source-file link later, use only an existing authorized document URL and confirm its audience and destination before entering it. Do not paste token-bearing share links, credentials, local file paths,
javascript:URLs, or an unverified protocol into a workbook. Writing a link does not make its target accessible to colleagues.
Rename and relocate the internal target
Rename Data to Archive. Return to Index B2 and inspect the formula. The sheet name is inside quoted text; do not assume rename updates it. Explicitly replace the formula with =HYPERLINK("#Archive.B2";"Open total"), then activate it and verify Archive B2 18. Record whether the original string had changed automatically, without relying on that behavior.
To test growth without an ambiguous row-insertion rewrite, set Archive A4 Final total and B4 25, leaving B2 18 in place. Set Index B2 to =HYPERLINK("#Archive.B4";"Open final total"). Following it must land at B4 25, not the old B2 18. Index B3’s external URL must remain byte-for-byte unchanged.
Final checkpoint: tabs Index and Archive; Index B2 displays Open final total and targets #Archive.B4; Archive B2 18 and B4 25; Index B3 still targets exactly https://www.collaboraonline.com/calc/.
Save, reopen, and recover
Before the final save, choose and record the actual practice filename and its host folder/location or stable file identity in your test log. If two files have the same title, distinguish them by that host identity; a downloaded copy is a different file. Finish the current cell edit with Enter before saving. Use the available Save command and wait for the host’s saved indication; a visible value or another editor’s cursor does not prove durable storage. Close only after that indication, reopen the recorded filename at that exact host location or stable file identity, and compare the final checkpoint below. If saving fails or the host is disconnected, record the intended cells and values separately and resolve storage access before closing. Do not assume edits survive a disconnected tab.
For an optional reset exercise, first preserve the final saved file, then make a separate authorized practice copy with a different filename and record its host location or stable identity. Confirm that this reset copy, not the preserved final file, is active. Re-enter the exact initial fixture in that copy. Do not depend on Undo after reopening, and do not restore a shared historical revision over someone else’s changes.
For reset in the separate copy, rename Archive back to Data, clear A4:B4, and explicitly restore Index B2 to =HYPERLINK("#Data.B2";"Open total"). Verify the internal destination again; leave the external formula unchanged.
If the label is correct but the jump is wrong, inspect the stored target rather than the visible label. If a source file moves, ask its owner for the new authorized URL and replace only the intended target after reviewing it; this exercise does not move an external document or infer its new address. Host link-rewriting policy and external permissions can change the result independently of the spreadsheet.
Sources and testing disclosure
Vendor source and documentation were reviewed; synthetic expectations were computed independently. Source-code review is not native application execution. Preserve deployment-specific verification and publication holds. No screenshot is supplied because no matching current GUI capture was available.
