FIXED in ONLYOFFICE: Convert Rounded Numbers to Text

Text and Data Beginner ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor

Format rounded numbers as text with FIXED in ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor; learn defaults, grouping, decimal precision and data-type pitfalls.

Verification status: Official documentation referenced; example outcomes independently reasoned or arithmetically checked where stated. Not executed in ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor. How formula examples are checked

Quick answer: =FIXED(1234.567,2,TRUE) converts a numeric value into text with two decimal places and without digit-grouping commas. For an English-style decimal point, the independently expected text is 1234.57. FIXED is for a formatted text output, not for retaining an arithmetic number.

Version and platform scope — documentation checked 2026-10-13: These examples follow the current English, unversioned ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor function reference. The ONLYOFFICE Docs 10.0 announcement was published 10 October 2026, but the function reference does not identify which exact Desktop Editors release first supports this function, nor does it confirm parity with every older web server or mobile editor. The function documentation is not a native runtime compatibility test. Before adopting a formula in production, test it in your own installed version of Desktop Editors or the deployed browser-based editor. Do not infer that a function was introduced in Docs 10.0 merely because its page is present today.

Validation transparency: All results labelled expected below follow independent decimal reasoning or an official reference claim, not a calculation observed in ONLYOFFICE. No Desktop or web instance was run; no screenshots, build test, or unsupported error outputs are represented as measured results.

Formula language and locale: ONLYOFFICE’s regional settings allow a formula language and a region to be selected independently; the documented English function-insertion instructions show comma-delimited function arguments. The examples below use English function names and comma argument separators. Localized formula names/separators and output punctuation must be confirmed with the reader’s settings. Quoted text and literal Unicode characters are not interchangeable with argument delimiters.

Exact official syntax and defaults

=FIXED(number, [decimals], [no_commas])

The official ONLYOFFICE FIXED article specifies arguments in this order. The square brackets in documentation mean optional; do not include the brackets in a formula.

Argument Required? Type and function Documented default
number Yes Numeric value to round and render as text No default
decimals No Number of decimal places to display 2 if omitted
no_commas No Logical TRUE suppresses digit-grouping commas; FALSE allows them FALSE if omitted

A crucial distinction: FIXED returns text. Applying ordinary numeric formatting (Number/Decimal Places in the toolbar) to an existing numeric cell does not have the same data-type effect. Keep a separate raw-number column when downstream formulas need sums or averages.

Reproducible input data

Paste each literal formula below into a separate empty result cell. The later report-column example supplies its own exact input-cell layout. The display strings assume English/US decimal punctuation; another region can change separators. Every result below is independently expected, not observed in the editor.

Formula Expected text (English/US separator assumption) Purpose
=FIXED(1234.567,2,TRUE) 1234.57 Two decimal places, no grouping
=FIXED(1234.567,2,FALSE) 1,234.57 Explicit grouping
=FIXED(1234.567) 1,234.57 Defaults: 2 decimal places, commas allowed
=FIXED(1234.567,0,TRUE) 1235 Whole-number display as text
=FIXED(0.126,2,TRUE) 0.13 Positive fractional value
=FIXED(-45.673,2,TRUE) -45.67 Negative number with two places
=FIXED(7,3,TRUE) 7.000 Trailing zero padding retained in text
=FIXED(1000000,0,FALSE) 1,000,000 Grouped integer

These values were calculated by independent decimal rounding and grouping on numeric inputs away from half-way ties; the appearance of thousands/decimal separators remains locale-dependent in ONLYOFFICE and the examples have not been executed natively.

Make a fixed-format report column

Put raw quantities or rates in A2:A5: 1234.567, 0.126, 7, -45.673. In B2 enter:

=FIXED(A2,2,TRUE)

Fill through B5. The independently expected text strings are 1234.57, 0.13, 7.00, and -45.67 in B2:B5. Unlike formatting the original A cells, B contains text. For arithmetic, sum A2:A5 instead of assuming the rendered B values will be treated as numbers by every function.

To build a label that uses a percentage value already scaled to percent, suppose A6 contains the numeric 15.126 (not 0.15126). Enter:

="Discount: "&FIXED(A6,1,TRUE)&"%"

Independently expected text: Discount: 15.1%. If A6 holds a fractional rate 0.15126, multiply by 100 first: ="Discount: "&FIXED(A6*100,1,TRUE)&"%". The expected label is the same. This distinguishes unit conversion from applying a cosmetic percent sign.

Rounding is not the same as changing the source value

FIXED produces a rounded representation. It does not rewrite or delete the underlying numeric input in A2. Also distinguish it from =TEXT(A2,"0.00") (a format-code-driven text result) and =ROUND(A2,2) (a numeric result). The current ONLYOFFICE TEXT reference documents formatting a value as text; for comparisons with ROUND or locale-sensitive format codes, use side-by-side native tests instead of assuming identical edge-case rules.

Because FIXED’s output is text, a value such as 7.000 may look like a number while behaving differently in lookups, sorts or aggregate formulas. It is generally safer to keep the source numeric and apply cell formatting for presentation-only changes.

Locale and grouping caveats

ONLYOFFICE’s Advanced Settings let users select a region and choose decimal/thousands separators. The vendor’s FIXED reference describes suppressing commas, but that wording does not establish that every region literally uses a comma. The displayed strings in this guide assume the English/US convention; another locale may use different digit grouping or decimal marks. Do not combine formatted outputs from two regions as if they were unambiguous machine-readable quantities.

Troubleshooting and compatibility

Situation Recommended check
1234.57 versus 1,234.57 Check third argument TRUE (suppress group separators) or FALSE (allow); also check region.
Rounded text cannot reliably be summed Keep the numeric source column; use numeric functions for calculations and FIXED only for final display strings.
Too many/few decimal digits Check optional second argument; omitting it means exactly two decimals per ONLYOFFICE documentation.
Unexpected decimal punctuation Review File → Advanced Settings → regional separators before changing formulas.
Negative decimals, huge precision or exactly halfway values ONLYOFFICE’s short official FIXED page does not specify all these edge cases. Test in your exact editor version; do not copy Excel’s implementation limits as ONLYOFFICE limits.
Formula parse errors after switching language Confirm the formula language and local separator conventions; the samples use documented English notation.

Excel comparison: Microsoft’s official FIXED reference also documents FIXED(number, [decimals], [no_commas]) with the same basic purpose. Its detailed limits and negative-decimal behaviour are specific to Excel, not evidence that an older or newer ONLYOFFICE installation matches all boundary behaviour. The ONLYOFFICE guide is the authority for the claims above; cross-platform parity remains to be measured.

Sources and verification limits

Native region-specific output, negative decimal precision, midpoint rounding and historical release support remain untested.
