SUMIFS Function in ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor: Examples and Syntax
SUMIFS in ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor: sum revenue by channel and region using practical sample data, clear expected results, pitfalls and the official function documentation.
Reference checked: Examples have not been run in this spreadsheet application. How we verify guides
Quick answer: Sum revenue by channel and region. Sales records include a sales channel and a region. We want the combined revenue from Store transactions in North, not all North transactions.
This page covers the ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor implementation specifically. Its example values and expected results are original educational data, not screenshots or claims of a live application test.
Syntax and argument order
=SUMIFS(sum_range, criteria_range1, criteria1, [criteria_range2, criteria2], ...)
The argument order above follows the official ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor documentation. Use the function name shown here, and replace placeholder arguments with ranges, cell references or criteria from your workbook.
Worked example with sample data
| Row | A: Channel | B: Region | C: Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | Store | North | 50 |
| 3 | Web | North | 80 |
| 4 | Store | South | 70 |
| 5 | Web | North | 40 |
| 6 | Store | North | 30 |
Enter this formula in a free result cell (outside the input range):
=SUMIFS(C2:C6,A2:A6,"Store",B2:B6,"North")
Expected result: 80.
Why this result is correct: Rows 2 and 6 meet both conditions: 50 + 30 = 80. The sum range comes first, unlike COUNTIFS, which starts with a criteria range.
A second example or variation
=SUMIFS(C2:C6,B2:B6,"North")
Expected result: 200.
Without the channel test, every North transaction contributes: 50 + 80 + 40 + 30.
Common mistakes and troubleshooting
Avoid inserting the criteria range before the sum range. Ensure column C contains real numbers, and keep all ranges aligned row by row.
Also check that the version of ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor you use supports this function. A formula pasted from another application can fail because of different syntax, date interpretation, array behavior or regional separators. If the result differs, first compare the small dataset above with the expected answer before substituting your real data.
Where this function helps
Sales records include a sales channel and a region. We want the combined revenue from Store transactions in North, not all North transactions. Replacing the sample cells with your own ranges lets you reuse the same reasoning. On important spreadsheets, test with a few known rows, verify the final cell formatting and keep a separate copy of the source data.
Practical checks before reusing this formula
SUMIFS puts the sum range first, unlike SUMIF. Mixing those two orders can produce errors or misleading values. Every criteria range should cover the same number of rows as the sum range.
For auditability, show both a COUNTIFS (number of matching records) and a SUMIFS (sum of their amounts) in your summary.
