Summarize Sales by Region with a PlanMaker Pivot Table

Build a PlanMaker 2026 pivot table from a simple sales CSV and verify each region/channel total before sharing the summary.

Official documentation reviewed; native application verification pending · Updated 10 October 2026 · Editorial standards

A pivot table answers questions such as How much revenue came from each region and sales channel? without requiring a new SUM formula for every category. PlanMaker 2026 supports pivot tables using source records with unique headings.

Download data and check the expected summary

Use the eight-row sales CSV. The source has Region, Channel, and Amount columns.

Region Online Retail Total
North 180 120 300
South 120 160 280
Grand total 300 280 580

These are independently computed reference totals. Your pivot should reproduce them if it uses Sum of Amount.

Create the pivot table

  1. Import the CSV, retaining numeric Amount values and the single-row headings.
  2. Select a cell in the data block or the complete range A1:C9.
  3. Choose Insert → Tables → Pivot table. In some PlanMaker layouts, Data → Analyze → Pivot table offers the same feature.
  4. Choose the current worksheet range as the source and place the result on a separate area or worksheet.
  5. Assign Region to Rows, Channel to Columns, and Amount to Values.
  6. Make sure the value aggregation is Sum, not Count. Compare the output with the reference matrix above.

Why a pivot table can look wrong

  • Amounts counted instead of summed: inspect the field’s aggregation method.
  • Missing a row: source range may stop before the final record.
  • Categories split unexpectedly: hidden spaces make North and North different strings.
  • Numeric values turn into blanks or zero: revisit the import data type.
  • Summary is stale after edits: review the pivot refresh/recalculation controls for your PlanMaker version.

A good pivot table starts with clean raw data. The official manual discourages merged headings, blank rows and pre-summarized input tables.

Next: Use AutoFilter to explore the underlying records and remove genuinely duplicate records.

Verification: All six subtotal/grand-total reference cells were calculated independently; UI behavior is based on the PlanMaker 2026 handbook.
