Print a PlanMaker Sheet Without Tiny Text

Set a focused print range, choose orientation and scaling, and stop forcing one page when the result is too small to read.

Official PlanMaker 2026 documentation reviewed; independent example checks; not tested in the application. · Editorial standards

Set a small print range before choosing Fit sheet on one page in File → Print. If it is still hard to read, choose Fit all columns on one page and allow extra pages vertically. There is no setting that makes an arbitrarily large sheet both one page and comfortably readable.

Start with a bounded example

This guide uses PlanMaker 2026 desktop and its English documentation. Print and PDF commands on Android/iOS have separate availability restrictions; this is not a mobile or FreeOffice guide. Save a copy before experimenting: changes in PlanMaker’s print dialog are retained even if you leave without printing.

Download the synthetic order list, open it as comma-separated data, and confirm these columns occupy A:F:

Order Customer Item Quantity Unit price Total
ORD-001 Example North Notebook 2 4.50 9.00
ORD-002 Example South Pen 3 1.25 3.75
ORD-003 Example West Folder 4 2.00 8.00

There are 12 orders in rows 2:13. The CSV contains static values, not formulas or page settings. For a calculation exercise, replace F2 with =D2*E2 and fill through F13. Add Grand total in A14 and =SUM(F2:F13) in F14. The expected total is 83.00. See SUM if you need help entering the total.

Define what belongs in the report

  1. Make A1:F14 legible on screen: widen truncated labels, use two decimal places for prices, and remove excessive blank space in columns. Do not reduce the font size just to conceal a page-layout problem.
  2. Open File → Print group → Page setup. In classic menus this is File → Page setup.
  3. On Options, enter A1:F14 as the Print range.
  4. If you later add orders, update this boundary. A saved print range does not automatically promise to include rows outside it.

For a longer report, enter 1:1 in Repeated rows on the same tab. This repeats the actual header row; it is separate from the numbered row/lettered column headers and from freezing the screen. SoftMaker describes these settings in Page format options.

Choose paper, orientation, and scaling

  1. Open File → Print and choose Print active sheet. Keep Ignore print range off.
  2. Choose the paper you will actually use, such as A4 or Letter. Compare Portrait with Landscape for this six-column report.
  3. Adjust margins conservatively, respecting the printer’s printable area. Remove wasted column width before shrinking the report.
  4. In the scaling dropdown choose Fit sheet on one page for the first preview.
  5. Inspect the first and last records, the rightmost total column, and the grand total. Check page count and content together; a missing last row is not a successful one-page report.

The printing documentation distinguishes whole-sheet fitting from width-only and height-only fitting. Page formatting and scaling apply to the current worksheet, so repeat the checks if you print additional sheets.

When to abandon the one-page target

Read a printout at its intended viewing distance, or inspect the exported PDF at actual size. A preview zoomed to fill a large monitor can hide small text. As a practical illustration, a nominal 11-point font scaled to 60% is about 6.6 points: fitting is not the same as readability.

If order identifiers or prices are difficult to read, return to the scaling dropdown and choose Fit all columns on one page. Keep repeated row 1 and let the order list continue onto more pages. For an unusually wide report, consider removing genuinely unnecessary columns from a separate report copy or using larger paper that the destination supports.

Do not keep forcing a one-page setting on thousands of rows. PlanMaker’s automatic scaling has a documented minimum of 20%; a target that would require less cannot be fulfilled by unlimited shrinking. Check the actual preview rather than assuming the option name guarantees the page count.

Export and inspect the PDF

Use File → PDF export, or File → Export as PDF in classic menus. Confirm the intended sheet/output selection, create the file, and open it in a PDF viewer. Check the full page count, report edges, repeated headings if needed, and the 83.00 total. Verify that unrelated worksheets are absent.

The PDF dialog offers worksheet bookmarks and a tagged-PDF option; tagging alone does not replace an accessibility review. Leave Include PlanMaker document off when you only intend to share the printed report, since that option embeds the original workbook. Export preferences persist for later exports, so recheck them each time. See PDF export and classic-menu equivalents.

Fix common output surprises

  • Extra cells appear: check that Ignore print range is disabled and the correct sheet is active.
  • New orders are missing: enlarge the saved print range, then recheck the total formula as a separate step.
  • Page 2 has no labels: set repeated rows; screen freezing does not control print repetition.
  • The PDF includes more than intended: revisit export scope and workbook-embedding options before sharing it.

Testing note: Sample totals and the scaling illustration were independently calculated. The workflow was checked against official documentation, but printing, PDF export, and page appearance were not tested in the PlanMaker application. Page count depends on your fonts, paper, widths, and printer settings.
