ACCRINT in WPS Spreadsheet: Accrued Interest on Regular Coupon Securities
Calculate WPS ACCRINT with explicit dates, face value, frequency, basis and method, using independently checked coupon-period examples.
Verification status: See the evidence and test scope described in this guide. How formula examples are checked
Quick answer: =ACCRINT(DATE(2025,1,1),DATE(2025,7,1),DATE(2025,4,1),6%,10000,2,0,TRUE) has expected accrued interest 150 in the same currency units as the 10,000 face value.
Syntax and arguments
=ACCRINT(issue,first_interest,settlement,rate,par,frequency,[basis],[calc_method])
issue: issue date.first_interest: first interest-payment date used to establish the coupon schedule.settlement: settlement date, after issue.rate: annual coupon rate.par: face value, not a price quoted per 100. Supply it explicitly: the lesson inconsistently calls it required while describing an omitted default.frequency: annual payments, 1 annually, 2 semiannually or 4 quarterly.basis: day-count convention, optional.calc_method: optional logical value. The lesson says TRUE, the default, accumulates from issue; FALSE accumulates from first interest when settlement is later than first interest. All examples specify TRUE and stay on or before the first coupon to avoid irregular-period ambiguity.

In B2 enter =ACCRINT(A2,A3,A4,A5,A6,A7,A8,A9). Expected result: 150. The normal semiannual coupon is 10000*0.06/2=300. These non-month-end dates give 90 accrued convention days out of a 180-day coupon period, so the accrued amount is 300*90/180=150.
The official formula illustration sums each accrued quasi-coupon fraction and multiplies by par*rate/frequency. This example needs only one regular fraction; it does not attempt an odd first coupon.
Advanced check: reach the coupon date
Change A4 to =DATE(2025,7,1). The expected total is 300, a complete semiannual coupon. Doubling A6 to 20,000 doubles that result to 600, because the documented formula is linear in face value. This makes a useful unit check when importing holdings reported in thousands.
ACCRINT returns an accrued amount, not a security price, yield or signed cash-flow balance. Positive face value and coupon inputs produce the positive accrual in these cases. It does not deduct coupons already received from the TRUE method’s issue-to-settlement total. For later settlement dates, choose the method deliberately and verify the intended coupon schedule.
Errors and troubleshooting
The lesson documents #VALUE! for invalid dates and #NUM! for rate or par at or below zero, frequency outside 1/2/4, basis outside 0–4, or issue on/after settlement. It says dates, frequency and basis are truncated to integers; use whole-number controls instead of depending on truncation. A result off by a factor of 100 often indicates that a percentage was entered as a whole number. A result off by the payment frequency often means annual rate was treated as a per-coupon rate.
The published example does not establish behavior for every malformed first-interest schedule, boolean coercion or omitted-par combination. Those cases are intentionally outside this guide.
Dates, rates and basis
Enter dates with DATE(year, month, day) or references to genuine date cells, rather than locale-dependent text. Rates are annual decimals: enter 6% or 0.06, not 6. Use the same currency throughout; these functions do not convert currencies.
The official basis table lists 0 (or omitted) as US NASD 30/360, 1 as actual/actual, 2 as actual/360, 3 as actual/365, and 4 as European 30/360. The examples specify basis explicitly. The names alone do not define every February, month-end or multi-year adjustment; this guide does not generalize its controls to those edge cases.
Evidence and version scope
The official WPS Academy ACCRINT lesson labels its applicable edition WPS Office For Windows Personal (个人版). The lesson and relevant formula/table illustrations were reviewed on October 19, 2026. This establishes a Chinese first-party documented scope, not English-global, Linux, macOS, mobile or all-edition availability. The numeric build, introduction release and last supported version are not established. The lesson does not identify the function as deprecated.
Examples above are independent mathematical expectations under the stated assumptions. They were not executed in WPS, and no current application screenshot or runtime precision guarantee is supplied. Documentation images establish the written contract, not a new native test. English function tokens and comma separators follow the source; verify localized entry and workbook interchange in the intended client.
