OPT_TOUCH in Collabora Office: Touch and No-Touch Model Values
Separate discounted contingent cash values from barrier probabilities, with continuous versus expiry monitoring and independent probability-density controls.
Verification status: See the evidence and test scope described in this guide. How formula examples are checked
Quick answer: =OPT_TOUCH(100;0.2;0.04;0.01;1;0;120;"d";"i";"c") has independently expected model value 0.363775609 for the demonstrated domestic touch contract. Its continuously monitored domestic no-touch counterpart is 0.597013830. These are discounted values; they do not sum to one.
Syntax and payoff choices
=OPT_TOUCH(Spot; Volatility; Rate; ForeignRate; Maturity;
LowerBarrier; UpperBarrier;
ForeignDomestic; InOut; BarrierMonitoring [; Greek])
The official OPT_TOUCH reference gives eleven positions. Greek is optional; all earlier positions are required. Spot and annual decimal Volatility are positive. Rate and ForeignRate are continuously compounded annual decimal rates, and Maturity is years. Zero disables the corresponding lower or upper barrier.
Use lowercase "d" for a domestic-unit payoff or "f" for the foreign/asset payoff branch. InOut is "i" for touch/knock-in or "o" for no-touch/knock-out. BarrierMonitoring is "c" for continuous monitoring or "e" for checking only at maturity. The example below deliberately uses the domestic branch, whose fixed unit payoff makes discounting and probability checks especially transparent.
Greek omitted gives value. Accepted sensitivity names include delta, gamma, theta, vega, volga, vanna, rho and rhof with their documented abbreviations. A sensitivity is not a payoff value, and this guide does not certify the scaling or numerical behavior of every Greek. Keep it omitted while validating the contract itself.
Complete parameter grid
| Cell | Meaning | Value |
|---|---|---|
| B2 | Spot | 100 |
| B3 | Annual volatility | 0.20 |
| B4 | Domestic rate | 0.04 |
| B5 | Foreign/carry rate | 0.01 |
| B6 | Time in years | 1 |
| B7 | Lower barrier | 0 |
| B8 | Upper barrier | 120 |
Use =OPT_TOUCH(B2;B3;B4;B5;B6;B7;B8;"d";"i";"c") for the domestic continuous-touch case. Its independently expected value is 0.363775609. Change only "i" to "o" for no-touch; expected value is 0.597013830.
The unit payoff is interpreted at maturity in the inspected value model. Do not replace it with a contract that pays immediately on first touch. Such a payment has a random payment time and generally different discounting.
Independent probability and discount check
For this model the proportional price drift is r−rf=0.03. The corresponding log-price drift is d=0.03−0.2²/2=0.01. Let a=ln(120/100) and s=0.2. The independent continuous upper-touch probability is:
p = Φ((d−a)/s) + exp(2da/0.2²) × Φ((−d−a)/s)
It is 0.378621574. The no-touch probability is 0.621378426. The domestic discount factor exp(−0.04×1) is 0.960789439. Multiplying gives:
- Touch: 0.960789439 × 0.378621574 ≈ 0.363775609
- No-touch: 0.960789439 × 0.621378426 ≈ 0.597013830
Their values sum to 0.960789439, the discounted unit, while their undiscounted event probabilities sum to one. A spreadsheet summing these prices to one would be checking the wrong quantity.
A second independent calculation integrated the absorbing-boundary log-price density below ln(1.2). It gives survival probability 0.621378426393315, agreeing with the reflection formula’s 0.621378426393312. This checks a nontrivial no-touch event rather than using an already-hit or absent-barrier shortcut.
Compare expiry-only monitoring
Change only the final required argument to "e" in the no-touch formula:
=OPT_TOUCH(100;0.2;0.04;0.01;1;0;120;"d";"o";"e")
The independently expected value is 0.773962306. It discounts the probability of ending below 120, regardless of earlier crossings. This exceeds 0.597013830 because a path can reach 120 and later return below it.
The matching expiry-only touch value is the discounted complement, 0.186827133. The two expiry-only values again add to 0.960789439. Do not compare an expiry-only touch value with a continuously monitored no-touch value and expect complementarity; those contracts partition different events.
The exact model helper separates continuous knock-out treatment from truncated terminal payoff treatment. It constructs the corresponding knock-in value by subtraction. The monitoring distinction is therefore part of the implementation, not just an interpretation of the function’s name.
Domestic versus foreign and probability functions
The foreign branch is an asset/foreign-unit contingent payoff, not the domestic result with a different label. Changing "d" to "f" changes the payoff being integrated and therefore its value and sensitivities. A model using an exchange-rate interpretation must keep the spot quotation and domestic/foreign rate roles consistent. The domestic numerical examples do not certify an arbitrary currency convention or foreign branch result.
OPT_PROB_HIT takes an explicit drift and returns an undiscounted hit probability. To compare it with this price model, use drift r−rf, here 0.03, not domestic rate 0.04 and not the 0.01 log drift. A subjective real-world drift represents another probability measure and need not reproduce the pricing-model result.
OPT_BARRIER has a variable put/call payoff and an optional rebate. The domestic touch value can be a component of a rebate calculation, but is not by itself the value of a barrier call.
Errors and model boundaries
The add-in wrapper rejects nonpositive spot/volatility, negative time, invalid recognized flags and a nonfinite helper result. Exact displayed error text is untested. Use explicit lowercase codes and orderly barriers rather than relying on incidental prefix parsing.
No execution of an installed Collabora application occurred. Zero-time or zero-volatility limits, double-barrier accuracy, arbitrary Greek scaling and extreme-tail precision remain outside these controls. Constant volatility, constant rates and a continuous diffusion are assumptions, not observations about a market. The examples are numerical model checks, not financial advice or assurance that an actual contract is represented by these settings.
Product scope and verification
This guide covers the new Collabora Office desktop for Linux, identified by Flathub source tag coda-26.04.4.3-1 and commit 81339d176148d0d5c81ff05d82540f58f8aaa117. The desktop release notes and Linux package manifest establish the product mapping. The manifest is a dated source observation from October 18, 2026, not verification of an installed binary.
Versioned vendor Help, exact-commit registrations and evaluator code were reviewed on October 18, 2026. All numerical outputs in this guide are independently calculated expectations, not native Collabora observations. No Collabora application was run and no application screenshot is presented. Source availability does not establish identical Classic, Online/CODE, Windows, macOS or mobile behavior. First introduction and retirement dates are not established; no deprecation claim is made.
Examples use English names and semicolon separators. Adapt separators to the workbook’s formula settings. The documented extension function is outside standard OpenFormula 1.3; workbook portability and file-format round trips require separate checks.
