Check spelling and configure AutoCorrect without changing IDs in ONLYOFFICE
Check spelling and configure AutoCorrect without changing IDs.
Documentation reviewed; native checks remain manual · Editorial standards
Quick answer
Review spelling from the left-side Spell checking panel and use Change for a single confirmed typo. Configure proofing under File > Advanced Settings > Proofing. Ignoring words containing numbers affects spell checking; it does not preserve leading zeros or prevent numeric conversion in identifier cells.
Prepare text and identifiers separately
This walkthrough follows the English ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors 10.0.0 interface. Use a practice XLSX file with Description, Brand, Channel and ID in A1:D1. Before entering the identifier, set D2’s number format to Text. Enter “recieve invoice” in A2, ACME in B2, B2B in C2 and 00127 in D2.
Check the formula bar for D2: the identifier must contain all five characters, including the two initial zeros. If it already became 127, applying Text afterward does not recreate the missing characters. Re-enter 00127 from the known fixture. For imported real-world IDs, use the original source rather than guessing how many zeros were lost.
Review spelling without blanket replacements
- Click Spell checking on the left sidebar. The panel selects the first misspelled text it finds in the worksheet.
- Inspect Dictionary Language and choose the intended language. The selection applies to the spreadsheet, so check it before interpreting every flagged word as an error.
- For “recieve,” choose the correct suggestion “receive” and click Change. The expected result in A2 is “receive invoice.”
- When ACME or B2B is encountered, use Ignore if it is correct for this document. Use Go to the next word to continue reviewing.
- Reserve Change all for an identical misspelling whose every occurrence should be replaced. Ignore all similarly skips identical words across the worksheet, not just the current occurrence.
The desktop editor also offers Add to Dictionary for a genuinely valid term. Its custom dictionary is shared across the editors, so do not add a typo merely to clear the current warning. A one-document brand or code may be better ignored than permanently recognized.
Configure only the intended automation
Open File > Advanced Settings and scroll to Proofing. Ignore words in UPPERCASE can skip acronyms such as ACME; Ignore words with numbers can skip terms such as B2B. Choose the settings appropriate to this workbook and click Apply to save the advanced-setting changes.
Open AutoCorrect options from Proofing to inspect AutoFormat As You Type. The documented defaults include turning internet/network paths into hyperlinks and extending formatted tables when adjacent data is entered. If automatic links are undesirable for an audit log, disable the corresponding autoformat option. Test a newly typed URL in an unused cell; do not assume changing this preference removes links that already exist.
Math AutoCorrect and Recognized Functions belong to the equation editor. They are not a documented general-purpose replacement list for ordinary worksheet text or product codes. Do not configure a math replacement and then expect it to normalize every ID in column D.
Verify what changed
Compare all four cells with the fixture. Only A2’s typo should have changed: B2 remains ACME, C2 remains B2B, and D2 remains the text identifier 00127. The spelling panel’s completion message means the spelling pass finished; it does not certify identifier accuracy or business correctness.
As a boundary check, add another text ID 00008 below D2 after formatting the destination as Text. Verify its five characters separately from spell checking. If a prose correction was wrong, use Undo promptly and choose Ignore for the correct term. If a setting change affects unrelated work, return to Proofing and restore the previous option rather than resetting every customized entry.
Save, reopen and inspect the identifiers again, especially before exporting to a text format or importing elsewhere. For the broader typing problem, see CSV dates and product IDs.
Sources and verification
Official documentation snapshots retrieved on 20 October 2026 support the procedures above. The worked checks are independently reasoned expectations, not a report of native application testing. Save/reopen, rendering and platform behavior remain checks for the stated installation.
