SQRTPI Function in SoftMaker PlanMaker 2026: Formula, Examples & Troubleshooting

Math Beginner SoftMaker PlanMaker 2026

Learn the PlanMaker SQRTPI function, its exact syntax, examples, limits and Excel compatibility.

Verification status: Official documentation referenced; example outcomes independently reasoned or arithmetically checked where stated. Not executed in SoftMaker PlanMaker 2026. How formula examples are checked

Compute the nonnegative square root of a number multiplied by π.

Verification: No native PlanMaker execution was performed. SoftMaker documentation was inspected on 2026-10-13. Numeric expected outputs below are vendor examples where marked or calculations made independently; they are not screenshots, measured PlanMaker executions or proof of exact runtime behavior.

Quick formula

=SQRTPI(Number)

Enter a formula with =. This function name and parameter order are taken from SoftMaker’s official 2026 reference.

Arguments, data types and defaults

Argument Requirement and type Default
Number Required numeric multiplier; must be ≥0. —

Reproducible formula examples

Formula (English-reference syntax) Expected result Evidence
=SQRTPI(42) 11.48681381… SoftMaker 2026 vendor example
=SQRTPI(1) 1.7724538509… Independent mathematical check
=SQRTPI(2) 2.5066282746… Independent mathematical check
=SQRTPI(0) 0 Independent mathematical check

Reproduce it in a worksheet

In A1 enter Multiplier and in B1 enter Square root of multiplier × pi. Put 0, 1, 2, and 42 into A2:A5. Enter =SQRTPI(A2) in B2, then copy to B5. Independently expected values are 0, 1.7724538509…, 2.5066282746…, and 11.4868138076… respectively. SoftMaker itself documents the final example rounded to 11.48681381. A differently formatted worksheet may show fewer digits.

How the expression works

SQRTPI(x) takes the square root after multiplying by pi: SQRT(x*PI()). It does not mean SQRT(x)*PI() (multiply by π after square-rooting). For x=1, the correct expression gives about 1.77245, while the incorrect one gives about 3.14159.

One numeric argument is mandatory; there are no documented optional arguments or defaults. Input must be ≥0 according to SoftMaker’s 2026 function page.

Advanced uses

Equivalent formula cross-check. In C2 enter =SQRT(A2*PI()) and copy down. In D2 enter =B2-C2 and copy down. Both formulas express the same mathematical result. The calculated difference is expected to be near zero, though floating-point implementation and formatting may affect the last digits; this is a suggested test, not evidence that native PlanMaker produces exact zero.

Solve for x from a target root. If E2 contains the target value 5, the inverse relation is =(E2^2)/PI(); the independently calculated x is approximately 7.9577471546. In F2, =SQRTPI(E2^2/PI()) should be approximately 5 when the target is nonnegative. This algebra applies to the definition sqrt(pi*x); verify the worksheet if extreme magnitudes matter.

Model-based example. Some math/statistics models contain terms of the form sqrt(2*pi). Enter =SQRTPI(2) instead of repeatedly entering =SQRT(2*PI()), giving approximately 2.5066282746. Cite the model before attributing a physical or statistical meaning to the constant.

Errors, limits and troubleshooting

  • Negative multiplier: SoftMaker requires Number ≥0. Unlike the SQRT/ROOTN pages, the inspected SQRTPI page does not explicitly name the PlanMaker error string for a negative input. Avoid inventing an exact error token until tested natively.
  • Wrong order of operations: =SQRT(A2)*PI() differs from =SQRT(A2*PI()); parenthesize explicitly.
  • Displayed result differs after rounding: check numeric formatting. The vendor example of SQRTPI(42) is rounded to eight places.
  • Blank or text input: the official function reference does not settle all coercion/error details; check input data type rather than assuming Excel’s behavior.

PlanMaker, Excel and editions

SoftMaker 2026 and 2024 document the same single-argument formula SQRTPI(Number). Microsoft’s separate Excel reference includes SQRTPI in its mathematical functions. Basic conceptual compatibility is supported by documentation; exact handling of nonnumerics, errors, high precision, localized separators, and workbook round trips requires native verification. The cited SoftMaker documentation is PlanMaker 2026 desktop-family English help, not an execution test of every edition.

Localization and worksheet verification

The formulas above use the English-language PlanMaker reference with comma-separated arguments where necessary, period-decimal numeric examples and cell references. SoftMaker documents input/configuration settings, but the cited function page does not certify every locale’s delimiter, translated function name, decimal separator or settings combination. Use the application’s Formula → Function dialog to inspect locally accepted syntax. Date of reference inspection: 2026-10-13.

To validate natively, create the specified cells, enter each formula, capture the displayed and underlying result (including number format), and record PlanMaker version/build, product/edition, OS, locale, calculation settings and file format. There was no PlanMaker native execution in this research batch. Test any error case, relevant .xlsx export/import and formatting separately; Excel’s outcome does not prove PlanMaker’s.

  • SoftMaker PlanMaker 2024 English help: SQRTPI function — compared; same core documented signature and examples at inspection. Checked 2026-10-13.
  • Excel: Microsoft separately catalogues SQRTPI; same mathematical purpose. PlanMaker-specific error token for negative input not confirmed in cited page.
  • Limitations: PlanMaker 2026 English documentation checked, but no native build/platform/edition, localized syntax or Excel round-trip was tested. Do not transfer unsupported error behavior from Excel or older versions.
